Cano says umpire's decision to eject him was 'stupid'September 14, 2017 4:43am

Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano is as cool a customer on the baseball field as you'll find, so it was a surprise to many when home plate umpire Vic Carapazza tossed him for questioning a check swing in the the top of the seventh inning during Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Texas Rangers.

After the game, Cano didn't hold back when he was asked about the incident.

"What he did was so stupid. I didn't say anything. I just asked why he didn't check that one," he told Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times.

The 34-year-old added that he can't remember the last time he was ejected from a game and simply asked Carapazza why he didn't check with another umpire over the call.

Carapazza, who's known for having a short leash with players that argue, ejected Cano seconds after he rung him up.
